You don't need to be a Photoshop wizard to have a decent background. Even Robert (don't tell him I said this) can use a template if he has to.

  • Canva: The "I need it done in five minutes" king. They have thousands of LinkedIn banner templates. Just… please, change the colors. If I see that one "abstract geometric" template one more time, I'm going to start deleting connections.
  • HubSpot’s Banner Generator: They have great tools for creating professional, clean layouts that don't look like a circus.
  • LinkedIn’s Own Blog: Surprisingly, they occasionally give good advice on how to use their own platform. Who knew?

So, are LinkedIn backgrounds dead?

Only if you’re dead inside. (Too much? Maybe. But I’m a banner, I don’t have a filter).

The reality is that your LinkedIn profile is your 24/7 digital lobby. If the lobby is empty, grey, and smells like old stock photos, nobody is staying for the meeting. Invest 20 minutes into me: your loyal background: and I’ll make sure people actually stick around to read about your "innovative leadership" in the foodservice industry.
