KUYPERS CREATIVE / DEVELOPMENT RECIPE

Chicken and cabbage share a hot pan. Ginger brings the edge; sesame arrives at the end instead of getting lost in the sizzle.

Untested draft. Measurements and timings need a physical trial.

Make it

Yield: 2 main-course servings; skillet only

Estimated timing: Estimated 15 minutes preparation and 20 minutes cooking; 35 minutes total. Untested estimate.

Ingredients

  • 300 g boneless skinless chicken thigh, cut into 2 cm pieces
  • 300 g green cabbage, washed and thinly sliced
  • 80 g carrot, peeled and cut into thin matchsticks
  • 1 tablespoon neutral cooking oil
  • 10 g fresh ginger, peeled and finely grated
  • 1 garlic clove, peeled and minced
  • 20 mL reduced-salt soy sauce
  • 15 mL rice vinegar
  • 10 g honey
  • 30 mL drinking water
  • 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • 10 g sesame seeds
  • 15 g scallions, washed and thinly sliced

Method

  1. Prepare sauce

Whisk soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey and water in a small bowl. Keep raw chicken and its utensils separate from ready-to-eat ingredients.

  2. Brown chicken

Heat neutral oil in a wide skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken in a single layer and cook 6-8 minutes, turning to brown the surfaces. Browning alone does not establish doneness.

  3. Add vegetables

Add cabbage and carrot and cook for 5 minutes, stirring. Stir in ginger and garlic for 30 seconds, then add the measured sauce. Cover, reduce heat to medium and cook 4-6 minutes, stirring once, until cabbage softens and the thickest chicken pieces reach 74 C / 165 F on a food thermometer. Continue if needed.

  4. Finish

Uncover and stir briefly to coat; retain a little sauce rather than cooking dry. Remove from heat, fold in sesame oil, and divide into two bowls. Top evenly with sesame seeds and scallions. No rice or noodles included. Clean surfaces and utensils used for raw chicken.

Allergens and handling

Contains soy and sesame; soy sauce commonly contains wheat. Check all labels and cross-contact. No gluten-free or allergen-free claim.

Use washed produce and clean utensils; follow ingredient label storage instructions. Refrigerate perishable components promptly. No recipe-specific shelf-life promise.

Trial checks

  • Record pan width, chicken piece size and internal temperature.
  • Check cabbage moisture and sauce strength; log measured changes.
